Computational Linguistics Section: A Computational Approach to the Use of Natural Languages
Tsuneaki KATO (Leader)
Tsuneko NAKAZAWA
Kumiko TANAKA
The Computational Linguistics Section aims at a computational understanding of natural languages. Our research areas include computational morphology, syntax and semantics, human-computer communication in natural languages, and the computational modeling of language acquisition. By examining how computers can use languages, we try to clarify the characteristics of human languages, and to construct language analysis programs.

Research Projects (2005)
  • Construction of an LCS-based lexicon of Japanese verbs for natural language processing
  • Boundedness of Path in Deictic Motion Verbs as Path-Conflating Verbs
  • Towards automatic assessment of writings in foreign language
